Ambition, talent and sheer determination are just three things Deloitte shares with Britain’s Paralympic athletes. By choosing the BPA as their benefitting charity for the Deloitte Ride Across Britain, Deloitte is extending a partnership that began in 2007 through their Disability Sport Programme. Supporting the BPA from John O’Groats to Land’s End and beyond.
The BPA are the charity that supports British athletes through each Paralympic Games. The BPA has the sole mandate in this country from the International Paralympic Committee to select and enter a team for the Summer and Winter Paralympic Games, this team is called ParalympicsGB.
ParalympicsGB won a total of 120 medals in the London 2012 Paralympic Games; 34 gold, 43 silver and 43 bronze. With a strengthened profile from a home Games the BPA want to ensure London 2012 is not a single moment in time but a catalyst for change and lasting improvement across the countries sporting landscape.
Through the performances of ParalympicsGB they have one opportunity to inspire change in the way people think, feel and behave towards disability and inspire a new generation of disabled people to get in to sport, but they need help to provide the world class support British disabled athletes need to represent Great Britain in Sochi, Rio and beyond.
Deloitte RAB Fundraising
So far over £1.1 million has been raised for the BPA by riders throughout 2010 – 2012. Deloitte RAB has provided significant funds that supported us in our preparations for London 2012. Our ambition is to maximise the momentum of the Games to effect real change and lasting improvement in disability sport. We strive to be the leading nation in Paralympic sport on the field of play and in support of our athletes, but we also aim to reach down to grassroots level to inspire more disabled people to take up sport and become active. With your help we can, through sport, inspire a better world for disabled people.
We need your help to reach our goal (and you’ll feel even better when you cross the finish line in John O’Groats).
The BPA can help you with fundraising – anything from setting up a fundraising page, to advice about how to get friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
