Halfords set to keep the wheels turning on the UK’s largest End-to-End Cycle Ride.
Halfords has extended its role as Official Mechanics Supplier for the annual endurance cycle event; Deloitte Ride Across Britain, in a multiyear deal stretching from 2013 to 2016. Halfords has provided support for Deloitte Ride Across Britain (Deloitte RAB) since its inception in 2010 and following the success of the partnership over the past three years will be extending its role in a new agreement that runs to the 2016 Ride.
The Halfords Cycle Mechanics are a key part of the ride helping the Deloitte RAB riders stay on the road over the nine day event. Halfords mechanics assist with problems as small as seat adjustments and tube replacements, to instantaneous full bike replacements. They also provide valued moral support during the most gruelling days! The mechanics work through the night to ensure every bike is ready for the next day’s challenging ride.
Paul MClenaghan, Halfords commercial director said: “We are extremely lucky to have so many talented staff and our Deloitte RAB team will feature some of the finest cycle mechanics in the country. Their bike knowledge and understanding of the stresses attached to a major cycle event are second-to-none. They all work tremendously hard and every rider who signs up for this impressive event can be guaranteed of first-class mechanical support”.
The Halfords team of mechanics for the Deloitte Ride Across Britain will be drawn from store staff across the country. The team has worked on a number of events, including the Dallaglio Flintoff Cycle Slam, The British Heart Foundation’s London to Brighton Bike Ride and, of course, the Deloitte Ride Across Britain in previous years. When not supporting events the mechanics are helping customers with their cycle needs. It demonstrates the depth of experience and knowledge of the Halfords store colleagues and the high standard of service available to customers.
Nick Tuppen, head of Threshold events (the event organiser) said: “World class support is at the heart of Deloitte Ride Across Britain and with Halfords on board to deliver the mechanical support, we know our riders are in great hands. Over the last three years Halfords have proven themselves time and time again fixing anything and everything that comes their way on bikes from £500 to £5,000 pounds. As our riders prepare for the challenge of riding 960 miles in 9 days it is not only what happens on the event though, but the support network that Halfords has across the country. Whether riders are training in the far West of Cornwall or the mountains of Scotland; Halfords’ support is also crucial in getting many riders to the start line of their challenge of a lifetime”.
