Volunteer for Us

Do you want to be a part of making this the best experience for our cyclists? We’re looking for enthusiastic, proactive and practical individuals to help us make this a memorable weekend by taking on a variety of different roles, such as the below:

  • Welcoming participants to the event sites
  • Helping at registration and assisting with participant queries
  • Joining the teams at the Pit Stops along the route
  • Helping out at tent allocation and other Basecamp roles
  • Cheering participants over the finish line and handing out medals

You could be a part of something special and help keep the excitement alive at our basecamps, the perfect place for participants to celebrate their achievements. Or you could be stationed out at one of our pit stops dotted along the route, cheering on the participants. Wherever you are, you’re bound to feel part of this amazing event.

There are a number of volunteer shifts available at different locations, and with the event being across nine days, you will have the option to volunteer on one or more days, which ever your preference! Sign up here!

FAQS: I'm interested in volunteering

Do I need to have specific skills and experience to volunteer at the event?

The event volunteer roles do not require any previous experience, and we will provide you with all the information you need to fulfil your volunteer role on the day. All you need is a positive can-do attitude!

What different roles are available as a volunteer?

Due to the nature of our events, we are able to offer a variety of volunteering roles so there is sure to be something that will suit everyone. Each route has a number of pit stops where you can be part of the team to help the participants refuel for the next leg of their challenge and encourage them to keep pushing on. Or if you prefer to cheer our amazing runners, walkers and cyclists over the finish line and award them with their hard-earned medals, then coming along with your loudest cheer!

How long can I volunteer for?

On the Ride Across Britain, we ask volunteers to commit to either the whole event or half of the event (1st or 2nd half).

Can I choose when and where I volunteer?

Yes within reason. We will aim to find a role and location that suits you. Please apply via the form and one of the team will be in touch to discuss further.

Can I volunteer if I am under 18 years old?

Unfortunately we aren’t able to accommodate any volunteers who are under 18 years old due to health and safety reasons.

What support do I get as a volunteer?

Whatever your role on the event, you will be given all the necessary information to be able to carry this out to the best of your ability. You will be provided details of where you will need to be and when, and what you will need to bring with you. You will also have an experienced team manager with you on the day if you are unsure of anything.

What provisions do volunteers get?

While volunteering you will be provided with all food and drink so you won’t need to worry about bringing anything with you. If required, you will be provided with your own tent and camping mat, you will just need to bring sleeping bag etc.

FAQS: I've already signed up to volunteer

I have signed up to volunteer on an event. When can I expect to get some information on what I will be doing?

Once you have signed up, we will be in touch within four weeks with to confirm you place. Once confirmed, we will then be in touch with all volunteers approximately 4 weeks prior to the event to provide more details on where you need to be and when, and also your role on the event itself. We will then be in touch again in the week leading up to the event to notify you of any updates or changes, and to check you have everything you need.

What kit do I wear to volunteer?

On the event you will be provided with a black Threshold t-shirt to wear, as well as a hi-vis which must be warn at all times to be identifiable to participants as well as other crew and volunteers. As well as this, we recommend wearing comfortable footwear and always packing those waterproofs – you can never trust the British weather! A full kit list will be sent round to you in advance of the event.

How shall I best prepare for my volunteering role?

Please ensure you read all the information sent round to you ahead of the event so you know where to go and what you’ll be doing. Of course if you have any further questions or are unsure about anything, you can always get in touch with us: operations@thresholdsports.co.uk

How do I claim back my travel expenses?

After the event, you will need to create a invoice and send this to us so that we can process the payment. If you are using public transport, please ensure you keep the receipts. If you are driving your own vehicle, mileage can be claimed back at 45p per mile.
